17TH CENTURY MONASTERY PIEDMONT

This stunning 17th-century monastery, turned 31-room hotel sits on a hilltop in Italy's Piedmont wine region. The experience of a wisely restored ancient 15th-century monastery provides a mix of rooms and suites. In each of them, original architectural elements meet the elegance of the nobles who lived here in the 1800s making each room unique, while the beauty of the Langhe that surrounds the building is the same that the monks admired over four centuries ago.  In a harmonious union between comfort and tradition, the rooms are housed in the ancient cells, in the original sacristy, and in the historic stables. Antique marble fireplaces, visible beams, or inlaid floors blend with attention to detail and the charm of the outdoor panorama.

The property boasts an excellent restaurant and slow food is significant in the menus where food is all about the local producers. Guido da Costigliole is the chef here and he has earned the hotel a Michelin star. During the summer, dinner is served on the terrace overlooking the Langhe countryside, which is simply breathtaking. There is also a Bistrot here, a bar and cigar room, and a wine cellar with some excellent wines.

For those moments of relaxation, you are surrounded by lush green hills with the Spa set in a timeless space, where the mind regenerates. The salt caves with salts from the Dead Sea that look onto the hills, the grape-based treatments, and the bio-sauna with herbs from the hotel's botanic garden create a perfect synergy with the surrounding nature. It is easy to abandon yourself in this aura of serenity and peace and to let yourself be pampered with personalised treatments and wellness rituals. Relax in the pool, rest your eyes on the vineyards from the panoramic terrace, detox in the salt caves, discover the saunas and hammam: every moment in the Spa becomes a true pleasure for body and mind.

There are a range of treatments, from wine therapy where the wine has a relaxing and calming effect, while the grapes help in the purification of the body, in weight loss, and generally help cell regeneration to thalassotherapy, an outdoor massage which not only relaxes the body but also stimulates the senses to a scrub treatment using salt, honey, and herbs grown in the monastery, or Barolo, or hazelnuts. We have treatments for the face with truffle and more. Each offering can be personalised to your specific requirements.  There is a gym, tennis facilities where the tennis court is set on top of the hills which makes every match an incredible experience, letting you play surrounded by nature with a 360’ view of the surrounding vineyards.
