APULIA
Welcome to the heel of Italy’s famous boot. In many ways, Apulia can be seen as an excellent holiday destination. It has everything a perfect holiday needs. It’s all-year-round, warm, and sunny, and it has more than 800km of diverse coastline with beautiful beaches and sandy bays with wind-eroded cliffs. You surely won’t have to look too far to find your ideal beach spot. Polignano al Mare might be one of those places: this city became famous because of its well-known sing-along ‘Volare’ by Domenico Modugno.
Apart from the wonderful climate and beaches, Apulia also features cute white towns, magnificent landscapes, many archaeological sites, and a sublime culinary tradition. The Itria Valley is covered in vineyards, orchards and rolling hills with little white huts or ‘trulli’ dotted all around. Just outside of Apulia in the region of Basilicata there is ‘Matera’, also known as the city of the ‘Sassi’. Matera has recently been nominated as 2019’s European Capital of Culture and has been on the world’s heritage UNESCO list since 1993. It is described as “one of the most outstanding organised urban settlements ever created in the world, a real masterpiece of human creative genius and capacity to adapt. Matera, and other beautiful cities like Bari, Brindisi, and Gallipoli are just outside the routes but can certainly be added. You name it, we’ll arrange it!
