There are about two and a half million students assessed annually with the following proportions, the proportion of third year students taking GCE Advanced Levels and the Western Academic English Examination Certificate, WAEC, traditionally taken by senior secondary schools. In 1984, for example, WAEC had its own OMR software for assessing candidates.
Institutions that strive to make every student stand out with their competitive edge can no longer do so without OMR software that enhances and feeds all aspects of the education system through the assessment process. The use of OMR which is a technological innovation has changed our lamentation attitude to assessment from a source of stress and a source of menace to an instrument of learning. In fact, the success of the WAEC examinations to date has been sighned by the use of the OMR software. This is because the use of OMR has not only boosted the level of accuracy of the examinations but has also lowered the courtesies involved with interviewing and re-interviewing a number of candidates after each interivew during the examination.
\"Each year it is estimated that over 300, 000 students graduate from some combination of independent schools and public institutions in Nigeria. The task of assessing their readiness for high school and university examinations starting with the West African Examination Council s (WAEC) Secondary School Certificate examinations is the responsibility of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in government, which differs for the federal and state governments. WAEC, the national secretary of the National Association of Secondary School Students, Education Minister, federal education commissioner and state heads of education departments sit on the board of the West African Examination Council. They are supported by a central secretariat of some seventy persons who perform a variety of functions. WAEC also has a large number of officers responsible for assisting the board at all times and for the administration of the examinations. 7211a4ac4a
