Is it worth taking a transit visa to visit a friend in the USA?
I have a 6 month visa which I have the choice to use it or not. However, I'm planning to visit my friend in the US soon. He is already in the country for a year and he told me that there's no problem for him to extend his stay for another year because he doesn't have a student visa and so I don't have any visa problems when I visit.
I'm afraid that the transit visa can affect the entry of my friend to the US. Is it wise for me to take a transit visa to visit him or it is not worth the trouble?

From your comments it seems you are arriving in the US on a connecting flight, meaning you are on a US-bound flight, and are not travelling in the same trip to your destination. In that case, you need to have a valid visa.
If it is not worth the trouble, then just use the same visa you have. If it is worth the trouble, then you have options:
