Hi Rosa,
Apologies for taking such a long time to getting around to writing a testimonial for you website but having arrived back from a wonderful holiday in August I have just been totally wrapped up with work since (trying to earn, to pay for our next visit to Italy!)
Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for all your help in arranging our silver wedding anniversary 'second honeymoon' We really couldn't have asked for anything more, the views from our hotel balcony in Praiano looking over towards Positano were simply breathtaking....I don't think we could ever get bored of it!!
The itinerary and suggestions for restaurants and places to visit etc was extremely helpful and informative, and calling my mobile to advise of a general strike happening in Italy on the day we were flying home (something we weren't even aware of!) and subsequently arranging different times for your driver to collect us ensuring we got the airport on time just confirmed how professionally you run your company.
All in all I'm very pleased that I stumbled across you website and although this was our first time using your service it definitely will not be the last!
Venice next maybe?
Thanks again Roy and Kath Senior

Dear Rosa, Just to let you know that we had a superb time in Rome last week and the appartment was great. The taxi ride through Trastavere on arrival late at night was in itself an extraordinary experience - don't know how the young driver managed to keep his cool despite the extremely tight squeeze along the narrow streets filled with people!
Thank you so much for all your assiduous help with the arrangements -The Italian Connection was a great discovery from our point of view and I am sure we will contact you again for any future Italian trips. We are already pondering the idea of maybe Venice for another occasion.......
Best wishes,
Helen.

Hi Rosa,
Back safely from a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Many thanks again for your part in it. Just a little feed back in case it is of help.
1. Hotel on Elba excellent, food very good, no problems.
2. Hotel Vesuvio, very nice, helpful people, but room (especially shower ! I'm over 6ft) rather small, and some features rather run down/didn't work properly .
3. Nothing to do with you or your company, but after you related some of your experiences with the rail network I must tell you that we had some fun with Italian Railways and our Cinque Terre card after a Rail Strike was announced (without any warning to Tourists) the day after we had validated our 2 day card. They were totally intransigent about allowing us to use the card the day after the strike,so we had to buy more tickets, but after much argument and standing firm we were eventually given a Compensation Form to fill in. We shall see what happens, but we are not counting on anything !
4. You didn't leave much time for the train connection in Genoa ! The first train was a couple of minutes late (one more minute and we would have missed the Milan train) and we had to take our luggage from Binario 4 to 24, or something like that, so we just threw ourselves on the train as it was about to leave.
5. Again no fault of yours, the booking for the La Spezia to Genoa stage turned out to be a mystery because we had a seat in carriage No. 9, but there was no carriage No.9. (It wasn't just that they were in the wrong order, it just didn't exist.) When we queried it with the ticket inspector he just gave us a shrug , muttered something about a problem and moved on. So we stood, but it wasn't a long journey, so no problem.Happy Days !
6. Again not your problem, but it might be useful for you to know that since returning I have had to take up an issue with Avis about the car rental. When we dropped the car in La Spezia, the very nice, smiling lady told us that a charge had been added to our credit card. I asked why, as everything was supposedly included and there were no problems, but she just smiled and said 'Taxes'. I didn't bother arguing in my very limited Italian, but Avis have since agreed that there should have been no further charges, couldn't explain why they had been added, and they have reimbursed my credit card. I have made a formal complaint to them, which might carry some weight as I am actually an AVIS Priveleged Customer, and I objected to the principle that when they swipe a credit card they are in a position of great power and can arbitrarily take any money they feel like from the customer, and that they should not abuse this power. They have been very apologetic, for what it is worth.
7. La Scala was a great experience, the leading singers were outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Hotel was excellent, and very handy for both the Opera and other attractions. It was unfortunate that our free day was a Monday so all the Museums, Last Supper, etc. were closed, but we had a good day nevertheless. Incidentally, we were a little disconcerted to find that one of our tickets for the Opera was priced much higher than the other, and for one awful moment thought they might not be together, (we still love each other you see !) but we soon realised it was to do with angle of view. It wasn't a problem; the box was well positioned and we both had a perfectly good view.( We can see what you mean about Italians not liking draughts, both in stuffy crowded trains and in the rather hot atmosphere at La Scala, but God made us all different to add a bit of variety to our existance ! )
Anyway, I am sure that you don't want to hear any more of this boring negative nonsense. I can assure you that I could record MANY pages of positive, wonderful things that happened and that we discovered, we met some great people and had many a shared laugh along the way with Italians, French and Germans, and that we have huge beaming smiles, not sour expressions. We had a great holiday; we are seasoned travellers and we just smile when things do not quite work out to plan, which is usually the case !
Have a great and successful season, with lotsof clients.
Best wishes,

Dear Rosa
We had a wonderful holiday and the only issues with the apartment were that it wasn’t clean when we arrived but fortunately they were able to arrange another cleaner at short notice and the key holder gave us 60 euros to get a meal while it was being done so we have no real complaints on that score. The key holder was very efficient and pleasant. I scalded my hand quite seriously as a result of the water temperature being set too high but it has now been turned down. Apart from all that it was fine - the kitchen is pretty old but it does function and we were not looking to do much cooking so it didn’t really matter. The location is great and room sizes are good.

Morning rosa....Overall we had a great time. Lovely house in good location with great views. Would be even better later in the season when the pool and complex restaurant would be open.
Sadly, we were both allergic to the house though! Not sure what but the last 2 nights were particularly bad to the point I hardly slept. The lesson for me is to ask what kind of bedding they have and any other feather cushions.
Connie was a great help on the first night when we got there late and throughout.
The amalfi coast was a great recommendation on your part. Stunning and lots to do with the kids. Ended up being more costly than I hoped for but worth it on balance for sure!
Car was fine and haven't heard anything post holiday.

Dear Rosa Absolutely fine for you to pass on my comments. The problem with the breakast at Tournabuoni was that the room where they did it was laid out like a school dining room! Tables down the middle of the room all joined together and a few round the sides which were a bit cramped. The staff were very good and helpful but the ambience (for want of a better word) was somewhat disappointing. I think with a bit of imagination they could make breakfast a much nicer experience and people wouldn't feel on top of each other! By the way they don't have a dining room - I think one was mentioned in the internet details. It is a lovely place and we had the sweetest person to look after our room she gave us great hugs and kisses when we left! The terrace which is very flower covered is gorgeous and a wonderful spot for drinkies!
I forgot to say yesterday that La Boheme was just magic! Wonderful voices and of course we were so close to them. I've converted my husband to opera at last!!
I think we all decided that we should repeat the visit next year as it was such fun. The Forbes as well!
Will be in touch re renting - when would you recommend as being a good time to go before it gets chilly but without too many visitors?
Regards Rosie

Dear Rosa
Really sorry not to have been in touch but we've had a housefull since we got back and am only surfacing today.
It was wonderful and thank you so much for all you did. Florence was a dream - hotel was perfect (except for breakfast arrangements which left a bit to be desired but I know the Italians don't really DO breakfast) the staff were so friendly and helpful and the concierge(s) sent us to wonderful restaurants. Our room was perfect and we loved every minute.
The secret dinner was a huge success and everything went according to plan - he was SO thrilled particularly seeing Victoria there. She had phoned him in the morning and made it quite clear that she was in meetings in London all day but wished him a happy day! His face was a picture when he saw her and the Forbes were an amazing bonus. The whole evening went very well and the restaurant was brilliant.
Rome - weather lovely as it was in Florence. Hotel showed us a very poor room to begin with which I rejected and they then produced something considerably better. The hotel itself is lovely but the staff were not very good at taking notice of you when you were trying to get their attention to get a drink (or anything else). However my husband sorted them out by asking exactly what he had to do to get a drink?? After that little wake up they treated us very well and we thoroughly enjoyed it and they too sent us to fantastic restaurants. Our visit to the Vatican was amazing and the guide was just so interesting and so nice. Sadly Rome was jam packed with Americans and Japanese and students all eating ice creams sitting on every beautiful monument that one might have wanted to photograph! The Basilica was hardly visible under the heap of tourists which was sad (I know we were tourists as well!!) because all the atmosphere which I remembered from a previous visit had vanished as it had when the Pope was speaking from his window on Sunday morning. The stunningly silent reverence which I remembered when the Pope spoke had gone and it was noisy and people were pushing and shoving all over the place - very sad.
However we had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and came back refreshed and ready to attack the garden!! We also did a coach trip from Florence to Siena and San Gimignano but really it was pretty awful because of the huge numbers of tourists crowded everywhere - you just couldn't see anything at all but I'm sure sales of ice cream were booming. I'd love to go back and be able to actually see the places I believe October, November and January and February are the times to go and possibly September??
Would really like to rent a house in Tuscany for a holiday in the countryside somewhere beautiful but not too remote - any suggestions?. From our coach trip we did manage to see some of the countryside and of course absolutely loved it. Victoria and the boyfriend stayed in a B & B somewhere near San Gimignano and drove round everywhere and thought it was magical.
All in all - many congratulations and thanks for organizing such a wonderful holiday. We will be passing your name on to anybody wanting to go to Italy.
Kind regards Rosie

Hi Rosa,
Hope you enjoy it. As regards an essay – no chance. I can’t remember what I had for breakfast let alone details of the holiday. I will however say that your service was professional, friendly and diligent. You tailored the holiday to our needs and came up with unusual and interesting ideas that we could not have got from an anonymous high street chain. Hope this does. (Particularly grateful for personal invite to Bunga Bunga party- that should increase sales!!). Expect Royalties and Staff and Student Discount from now on.
Speak soon Regards David

Dear Rosa,
I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you for all your work on my behalf. Everything went wonderfully to plan and I cannot tell you how thrilled we were with the Hotel you selected for us. Wonderful friendly and helpfull staff, spotlessly clean and the most wonderful view from our room of the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We really could not have been anywhere better. Another bonus was that it was so near the Station that we walked to and fro on arrival and departure. Sadly it is back to the cold and grindstone, but we really were thrilled and when we go to Italy again (very soon I hope!) I shall be in touch for more of your wonderful services.
Thank you.
Best wishes

We had a lovely time in Venice - thanks for arranging it.
You asked for some feedback the apartment was scrupulously clean and well equipped with toiletries including loo roll. British style towels. Plentiful supply of breakfast supplies and English tea bags and a tea pot. No tea towel. The cheese shop on the other side of the canal sells milk. The double bed is two singles pushed together but don't stay together. Only eight pillows and we like two each. As there was only one blanket per bed we had to leave the heating on overnight.
Not all the lights worked - one lamp was without a plug and one had no bulb. Wardrobes well equipped with hangers and shelves which was good as drawers had no handles and not easily opened. Two pairs of child size wellies. Quiet location but only a short walk form the centre. Mr Tudor is efficient but not friendly.I love the Italian style whistling kettle and if you know where they are sold here please let me know.
Hope you enjoyed your stay in Italy. I'm sure it will not be 20 years before we visit Venice again. Thanks again.

Sailing in Venice:
Rosa. Had a great time yesterday. Very real sense of the mystery and atmosphere and history of the Lagoon. Nicola and Daniela very friendly and flexible. As far as the sailing it was a very light wind so we just steered really. Luck of the draw. There was almost a storm on Monday. We were very happy to have the freedom of the lagoon which was empty.
Best wishes. Rupert and Marian

Hi Rosa!
Thanks so much for getting in touch, we had a lovely time – it was just what we were looking for. We really enjoyed ourselves, it was a great way to spend our honeymoon.
Car hire was fine, I took a sat nav which made things much easier (especially for someone who’s never driven abroad!). The only problem we had was dropping it off – it wasn’t obvious from the map where their office was, and in fact when we found it there wasn’t really anywhere to park. I ended up running into the office with the car left outside, the lady from Europcar was helpful and gave directions to a nearby car park where we were supposed to leave it but it was really hard to find it!
Anyway, the hotel in Malcesine was great – really beautiful views and grounds and a really nice walk along the lakeside into the town.
Malcesine was exactly what we were looking for – lovely for a honeymoon and seemed like a good place to take a young family (there were *loads* of parents with babies who all seemed to be made very welcome everywhere :). We’d definitely consider going back.
We ate at the restaurant you recommended which was *amazing* – really good place to have a very special night out. Would definitely recommend their “tasting menu”. We also found some other excellent restaurants – Gondolier on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, and one on Porto Vecchio (also I think called Portovecchio). There was a fantastic osteria in Piazza Turazza called Osteria Santo Cielo.
We took the cable car up to Monte Baldo and walked back down – amazing! Potentially would suggest to people to walk down to the middle cable car station as the rest of the walk down wasn’t so interesting ad very steep. Took about 3 1/2 hours to get to the middle cable car. We also took a drive up into the mountains, visiting Lago Di Ledro, Lago D’Idro and Lago Di Valvestino – some lovely views up there as well.
The B&B in Verona really exceeded our expectations. Apart from breakfast which was pretty basic, everything was of a very high standard. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, it was SO close to the town centre (just what we were after), and we’d recommend it to anyone who’s thinking of visiting Verona.
We got a Verona Card and saw all the typical tourist sites, and had a really nice day walking around the old city walls. I think 3 days would have been enough time to see everything if you wanted to, we had plenty of time to relax.
The Via Sottoriva was definitely the best spot for traditional restaurants – I think we ate at Hosteria Al’Ursa on our last night there which was a lovely way to finish off the holiday!
Once again thank you so much for helping make the honeymoon so special. The next time we’re looking for a holiday in Italy we’ll definitely be in touch!
Thanks again

Hi Rosa
Just a quick email to say thanks so much for all your help and assistance with me and Amy while were were over in Castellabate. We had an excellent adventure - and I got home without the aid of the nappy I am pleased to say! Costantino and his family were great hosts and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.
Will no doubt be in touch again when we next go to Italy and will recommend your services to our friends and family - and Castellabate!

Hi Rosa,
Just to say that we have now returned from our Italian Connection holiday. What a lovely time we had.
Train was a great experience. Hysterical!!
Florence pick up as planned, hotel delightful and reception great all of which prompted a great stay in Florence.
Car pick-up - got there early and we were away in an hour. Brian drove like a true Italian out of Florence and to Casole.
Lovely hotel and lovely bottle of wine from owner the first evening.
Exceptionally good man on reception who was so, so helpful.
Car journey to and from Casole not too taxing.
Saw lots of places, took lots of pictures and drank many coffees. Weather brilliant for whole stay just tell me how you arranged this.
Return journey fine and we actually found Europe Car first go. Mind you I didn't stop clutching my seat once we entered the city!!!
Car return no extra scratches!Cases deposited at station. Absolutely lovely day in Florence with dinner in pavement restaurant before we went for our train. Return sleeper great with lovely Steward who brought us breakfast in bed. Train changes as planned and home safely.
Thank you so much Rosa for such a well planned itinerary/ arrangements making our two weeks so enjoyable. Will send you a more in-depth version of this in due course as we had so many funny experiences and want to record them and share with you.
Again thankyou
Annette and Brian

Hi there Rosa,
You beat me to it, I was going to email you.
It was fantastic honeymoon, thank you so much for all your arranging and effort. From start to finish the whole trip worked like clockwork. Sally and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't thank you enough for putting the whole trip together.
Mamma Agata's was a special delight both for the cookery school, which Sally got her hands involved in and the fabulous wine tasting which I particular enjoyed! The time spent on the Amalfi coast was brilliant and we would definitely go back to see more and to relax, the scenery was amazing.
Sicily was relaxing particularly in Raguso, we decided to sunbath more here without really venturing out too much, a trip to the Eremo Natural spa and the use of their private beach was ideal for us. It was so quiet there so 5 nights was plenty.
In Taormina it was nice to get back to having other hotel guests and some bars! We visited the Godfather village however the weather was not great here so we decided a trip to Mount Etna was unrealistic given the rain and low cloud. All in all it was a great honeymoon and money well spent.
Thanks again to you and The Italian connection and I will definately be recommending your company to others if they are considering a special trip to Italy.
Many thanks and regards,
Lee

Your deepnesss...It didn't get off to a great start with the BA flight being so badly delayed. Not your fault as you did not book it. Thanks for ringing ahead. That meant we were then running about 2 hours late for Weds night.
Scenery, weather - 10/10. B&B - 09/10 (I think they will need to sort the plumbing - it was a nightmare). The problem was that the pressure was too low in some rooms and then would spurt up plus the hot/cold would depend if someone flushed a toilet or had a tap running – it was a bit hit and miss – this didn’t apply to all rooms. I think in a house 600 years old plumbing is always going to be a challenge. Personally we would ditch the bidet and make bigger showers. The whole ambience of the B&B was perfect – location, view, breakfast you could not fault, Maureen and hubby were great – gave us advice on what to do and Hubby drove us to a village for a few hours sightseeing (he came back for us), rooms themselves were fine and great balcony stunning view.
Dinner at B&B on arrival 10/10. Wine Tasting, 10/10 - we all loved that evening. JM what a laugh. We were there alongside a small party from Sweden (a country I am well acquainted with). The whole episode was great tasting, chatting, more tasting, the singing song etc etc. I did buy wines but from a pre-selected shop in Rome. We did buy several bottles of his orange/olive oil.
Cooking Lesson - 10/10 -all liked that even the ones who don't usually cook. It struck the right balance as not all of our group cooks – we all got involved in different parts and of course tasting along the way (I made sure the marsala was suitable J). I believe all that was cooked/drunk was made within site of the building which is a major plus. Franco sells his red wine for £7 a bottle which is a steal based on its quality.
Transfer - 10/10 - always prompt, def worth doing for the Rome trip - we had brought our own DVD film for the return transfer (we think the bus driver on the return was trying to match the film to the transfer time - he failed by a few minutes :))
Tourismo Agrimo dinner - 10/10 - some of the group had a small issue with
the pork in that it was pink I think this was more a style of the cooking (us Anglo-Saxons like it well done) but was subject to a debate within the group. The hosts made up for it though not their fault by adding in roast duck :) - we were all relaxed about it. Thanks for organizing and I will send you the photos.

Thank you so much for arranging the holiday for me. The bed and breakfast was excellent, they could not have done enough for me. Of course I would not recommend it to anyone over 65 with walking difficulties as there were many steps but apart from that it was clean and lovely and the best thing was the tranquillity and the views. Thank you again.... was thinking about Ischia next year.. what do you think?

The holiday was great and thanks and I could not have arranged it without you to go sooo smoothly.
Lovely Hotels, but obviously a little beyond our Day to day budgets ! Which is a shame as the rooms at both (that we could obviously only afford) were a little normal or small compared to the rest of the stay at each. At the Caterina they were just lovely people and could not do enough to help you.
The Quissana slightly more distant frightening to think how some people can spend soo much so easily ! (Bottles of Krug at the side of the pool at 400 a bottle !).
I have a restaurant for you to add to your list of Food recommendations for Capri, it was recommended to me and did not disappoint !
Thanks again- and sorry for the brief email (lots of catching up to do here at work you know how it gets after the hols !).
Best Regards

Hi Rosa,
Sorry for the delay in replying, we followed our week in Italy with a week away in the UK, so I am still catching up....
The apartment was great, thank you very much. It suited our needs perfectly, especially the wonderful location. Sorting out keys, deposit, etc was all very easy and pleasant, both at the beginning and the end and we had absolutely no complaints.
Thank you for the extra information you sent regarding sight-seeing suggestions - we walked everywhere from the apartment, from Villa Borghese even to the Vatican, all with a 6 year old in tow, because the apartment is so central. I can see us re-booking as the whole family fell in love with Rome.
I would be happy to offer references if appropriate.
Thank you Rosa, and best wishes,

Dear Rosa
Thanks, we had a great holiday but straight back into a hectic week of work. Everything went to plan – flights, car hire etc fine. Instructions to villa fine. The villa has a wonderful view of the countryside with the Towers of San Gimignano in the distance. The welcome pack was excellent – especially the homegrown fruit, lovely pesto lasagna etc. The daily cleaning was done by Luciana who was reliable & helpful. The area was excellent for travelling around – you were right that it was quite different from being the other side of Siena. This time we visited Lucca & Florence as well as travelling back to our old favourites like Siena. In many ways it was in a better location for experiencing the area. We had a super holiday & have already discussed whether we should try going further south…. Italy seems particularly good value at the moment.
The only comments are about the villa description & I only include for your feedback, not as a criticism or complaint. The villa has a neighbouring house that the owner’s mother occupies & the parking & drive area are shared. The photos & description do not mention this. The positive side was that she was very kind & gave us some gorgeous homegrown veg & the children loved her little dog & the geese. However for some people the proximity of another house would not be good. Secondly the description suggests that there is a significant area of garden. This is not accurate – there is plenty of seating with wonderful views near the house & a small grassy area around the pool but it does not really fit with the description.
As I said those comments are just for your feedback. We had a super holiday, as always the service throughout was superb & we will continue to recommend you to our friends & colleagues. I am sure we will be in touch again…..
Best wishes
Sarah

Rosa, What a unique city! We are so glad we went. It was an exhausting but great holiday. We must have walked miles, but it was worth it to see what Venice has to offer.
The flat was just right. The only little annoyance was that the bar on the other side of the bridge had loud music until quite late on Saturday and Monday nights. Each morning at 8am the church bell rang and so feeling quite exhausted from our days' outings, we were a bit grumpy in the mornings. However, if we return to Venice this would not stop us staying in the accommodation again.
Mr Merigo was very charming and helpful. There were instructions as to what to do with the household rubbish but none regarding glass bottles, which we had to leave from him to deal with. Similarly we were not sure if we should have stripped the beds.
Thank you for arranging this and I'm sure we will be in touch again.
Kind regards,
Marilyn

Hi,
We had a great trip thanks.
The apartment in Rome worked out fantastically well, exactly what I was looking for. Its location was perfect, we managed to walk to all the sights, although the kids were a little tired by the time we reached Villa Borghese!
The owner was very helpful and friendly, in fact he magically appeared as we were carrying our cases across the Piazza towards the apartment, so checking in was very smooth. As a family the accommodation was ideal, much better than a hotel. The kids loved the bunk beds and the indoor swing. We arranged a leaving time with the owner and he arrived right on time, then helped us into a taxi.
Being so close to the piazza, it was a touch noisy at night, but you have to expect some noise being so central.
Rome itself is a fantastic city for exploring, with historic sites at every turn. We have been before, but it was lovely to bring the kids (10 & 8) on their first foreign city break.
I also found your service very helpful, from finding the apartment in the first place, based on my vague criteria through to your email checking everything went well! I would definitely recommend you to others.
Many thanks,
Andy Webster. R

Hi Rosa, just a quick note to say Rome and the Vatican trip all went well. The apartment was in a great location and absolutely what we needed (the steps up to the apartment are inside the front door leading up to the living area and are very steep and of hard stone).
I absolutely loved the Vatican trip - going in first thing in the morning and having the Sistine Chapel all to ourselves brought tears to my eyes and is something I will never forget. Needless to say the children didn't find the trip very interesting, but Marilena did a fab job of trying to engage them and keeping them moving. Of course, we got caught up in the volcano furore and our flight was cancelled, but we went up to Florence for a few days and flew out from Pisa last Thursday - the added days were such a bonus and we were lucky to find ourselves an apartment attached to a hotel just near the Ponte Vecchio. Anyway, thanks for all your help on this, take care, best wishes, Rachel Bailey!

Hi Rosa, Sorry I forgot to send you a reply – I work in the travel industry also so with all this stuff with the volcano it has been manic! I have broken down the trip into individual segments to give you some feedback on the individual service providers.
Flights - The flights there and back were fine and straightforward, although we did experience a delay due to high winds on the way back, but that is nobody’s fault. The one observation I did have is I was a little disappointed that the ‘snack’ was a very small packet of biscuits, as I have had better experiences on other shorter haul flights. But on the whole I was pleased with the flights.
Airport Transfers - I was very impressed with the professional service from this company. The guy who picked us up from the airport on the way there was particularly friendly and knowledgeable.
Hotel - The hotel was incredible. On arrival the staff were welcoming and friendly , they gave us a tour of the hotel and they upgraded us to a junior suite which was absolutely huge! The bathroom was as big as the downstairs of my house! It was beautifully decorated and the amenities were great. The staff simply could not do enough for us – we even bought a bottle of wine from in the town and brought it back to the room to enjoy, I asked if I could have it opened and within 5 minutes someone had arrived to open it and they offered to pour it for us. Simple things but very meaningful gestures.
The shuttle into town was great and the first time we asked for it the lady went a different way to show us the best way to walk into town.
As you know, on the second night we ate at the onsite restaurant. It was fabulous. The restaurant manager greeted us with a glass of champagne and was very knowledgeable and friendly throughout. The food was fantastic, immaculately presented with a range of dishes that came with the taster menu that we ordered. It was relaxed, professional and a brilliant experience – and reasonably priced when you consider that the whole meal experience lasted 3 hours for us, whereas if you go to a chain restaurant you can eat through £50 for 3 courses for 2 people and you are done in 90 minutes.
Florence - Florence itself is a beautiful city and we really enjoyed making sure we explored as much of it as possible. We found some of the best shops to be off the beaten track – my girlfriend was very impressed with the Ponte Vecchio. With its range of handbags and shoes my girlfriend had a field day, which was the aim of the holiday and we had a great time – we even managed to find a shop which did the most fantastic Tiramisu! We did the Uffizi on the 3rd day, and whilst it was very nice to absorb Florence’s rich culture and history, to those who are not into art that much I would probably recommend giving it a miss as it does get slightly repetitive after the first half. We had a packed few days and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I think Florence is perfect for a short break and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I would also encourage anyone travelling to Italy to contact yourselves as you provided a great experience for us that we will remember forever, so I thank you very much for that.
Next time I go to Italy you will be the first person I contact.
Kind regards
Chris

Dear Rosa
The Apartment
Clean, spacious and central and the furnishings lived up to the blurb. The piazza was noisy in the afternoon and evenings but the electric roof windows and blinds were highly effective at keeping out the noise and light. Very good shop close-by. Water filter jug much appreciated.
Recommended Restaurants
You mentioned three restaurants. Of these, we went to Grano and to Maccheroni. Although we did get in to the latter by just turning up, we had virtually the last table and that was about 7.10 p.m., so people should be advised to book. There was no problem getting in to Grano. The food was, of course, fine both there and in the other restaurants we went to - we particularly liked the wild boar at Terra di Siena. The service was excellent at Maccheroni despite their being so busy - on top of the public rooms being full, there was a party of about sixty in private rooms. In fact, the service was good everywhere except at the famous pizzeria di Buffetto, where it was strongly reminiscent of New York twenty years ago (the pizza itself lived up to its reputation).
It might be worth warning Brits about the system in which you have to pay in advance for items under cafeteria service, rather than, as in the UK, paying when you have gathered up the food. Once we had mastered that, we then got thoroughly confused about the arrangements in Giolotti, where in paying for our ice-cream in advance we stated to the cashier (in Italian, though no doubt not very good Italian) that we wished to sit down and would pay according the higher tariff and were not told that that meant we shouldn't be paying in advance at all, but should simply sit down and wait for a waiter. This led to an angry altercation with the waiters, whom we hadn't previously been able to ask as they had been nowhere to be seen, in fact it wasn't obvious that there were waiters at all.
The Tours
We were so glad that we had a private guide to the forum and the Vatican and that we took the earliest possible tour of the Vatican. It was certainly worth the extra money. The Vatican route took us back through the Sistine Chapel later in the morning, and so we could see how appallingly crowded it is in normal hours.
Those two tours were given to the four of us by Sal, with whom we got on well, a lively and informative guide. Emma positively enjoyed the four-hour tours, which perhaps her parents were not expecting, and that must be partly down to the guide. Just the menfolk took the Christian Rome tour, which we were given by Tosca, who is more reserved and perhaps less knowledgeable on this topic than Sal was on his, but who was nevertheless fine.
Transit
All the transit arrangements (airport to apartment, apartment to Rome station, train, Naples station to Positano, Positano to Naples airport) worked properly, although the timetable was over-cautious about the time needed to get from apartment to Rome station. The Naples to Positano trip took 25% longer than anticipated, but that was because of Labour Day traffic. We had a commendably careful driver on the mountain bends from Positano to Naples. It was a good idea to tell us about the validating machines for train tickets in case we had tried other train journeys. But in fact the tickets you provided did not have to be inserted in one of them, because they already state for what day and time they are valid, so we gave ourselves an unnecessary panic trying to find one. To judge from a discussion between an inspector and two Americans in our carriage whom he was fining, tickets might also be sold where the customer is supposed to write in the day of use him or herself, rather than put them into a machine.
The hotel in Positano
Well run, friendly and elegant despite 50s origins. Excellent variety of interesting things at the buffet breakfast. However especially given they now have an English PR manager on site (Rebecca), they could perhaps learn how to serve tea - the usual problem with almost hot water and teabags on the side. Restaurant service a little slow but it was very early in the season.
Positano
Very pleasant to wander around despite crowds and traffic. We took a 4 hour private boat trip along the coast to Amalfi, which was far too long given the sea was choppy, the boatman had little English and the grottoes could not be entered. Also we were not given any H & S basics such as where the lifebelts were stowed. Too much rubbish in the sea to think of swimming. We should have negotiated a shorter trip and insisted on a boatman who could speak English. The arranger at the beach kiosk was an English local woman called Nicky who was very helpful.
Pompeii
Disappointing with few signs; no notice, that we could see, of which parts were closed off for repairs. English Heritage would have done it so much better. i should say that Philip dissents from this opinion " I think the section on Pompeii should be a bit more positive. I think it was worth seeing and the bits we were able to see were quite interesting, despite the crowds and the disrepair. Information on which bits were closed would have been useful, may be something Rosa could like into for the future."
I hope this is helpful.
Budget permitting we may think about Florence and Umbria next year.
Regards
Frances

Hi Rosa, We had a great time in Italy , thanks so much for your service and help. Feedback wise I can run through the properties to give our impressions:
1. Venice: Great Location. Loved the terrace off the attic. As you may remember we had our troubles following the directions in amongst the crowds. Suggestion: For people with little or no Italian , it would be more helpful to be met (at apartment)by someone who speaks some English also there were no English instructions inside on appliances etc. But we got by and had great time.
2.Florence: What a great apartment. Location great , owner was so helpful. We will want to stay here again one day.
3.Rome (Via dei Cappellari): Great Location. Small apartment probably a little too small small for the 4 of us a couple would have been fine. Wouldn’t stay here again – but it was cheap.
4. The place in Sorrento: Beautiful. Great views , very comfortable. Owner very nice. Would stay here again.
5.Rome (Monte Giordano): Very nice apartment, great location. Listed that it had internet, but that wasn’t made clear how to access. Shower needed repairing. But for 2 nights it was very comfortable.
Transfers – were perfect. No problems. On the whole we were very pleased.
Question for you: Do you do or can refer us to good places for apartments in London, Paris and New York. This will be for our next trip. Thanks again Rosa – I will recommend you to my friends.

Hi Rosa
Can't believe I still didn't respond to you! What an idiot! Thank you we just had the most amazing time on our honeymoon I think our favourite place was Positano nothing can prepare you for the sheer beauty of the place and Hotel was so nice, the staff were lovely, the hotel was in a fabulous location and the meal we had as part of our package was the best we had for the whole trip, it was just perfect.
Breakdown:
As you know our flight was delayed which meant that we missed our ferry, the driver that you had organised was amazing and took care of everything even buying our new ferry tickets and telling us what to do. The car at Ischia knew we had been delayed and was waiting for us. All the transfers that you organised for us were fantastic and the drivers were really helpful and friendly, it just made everything so simple.
Hotel Isabella was really beautiful and I know that I requested it and it was not one of your suggestions! Ischia as an island was stunning, there was a bottle of prosecco waiting for us just as you said which was really nice. We knew we had a garden room and the view of the square from our balcony was really nice and the room was very spacious with beautiful tiles in the room and throughout the hotel. The only downside was that we were right above the bar and the noise when we were trying to sleep did get a bit much, the piano music was supposed to finish at 1am but one night it didn't finish until 2.30/3am, there was a large group of Americans who unfortunately wanted to stay outside in the garden rather than the bar and were very loud. It was a shame as the air con didn't work so the room was very hot because we couldn't open our door or shutters because of the noise. The hotel was not full and it would have been nice if they had offered us a free upgrade to a sea view room especially as we were on our honeymoon. We didn't complain about the noise but it would have been nice if we'd been offered a different room on arrival as I cannot believe that they are not aware that the room is noisy.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very attentive but it was quite impersonal there, we didn't really feel like we were on our honeymoon, no one asked how we were or if there was anything they could do for us, especially on the days of rain but this is the difference you get when you stay at a larger hotel.
Overall we really enjoyed it because it is so beautiful and had an old school charm about the place but I would have preferred it if they were just a little more welcoming.
Then on to the Relais, wow wow wow! The room was just spectacular, the view was unreal and I can't believe we had our own computer in the room, it was just amazing, Bruna and Bianca were lovely and so helpful. They organised our evening meals with the restaurants coming to collect us and taking us home which was just so nice and nothing we've experienced before. We went to Mimou's restaurant in Sant Agatha which was just lovely and he was so much fun. His brother in law drove us home and it turned out he used to play for Wigan Football Club! The only downside with the Relais was the weather, it rained and stormed pretty much the whole time we were there which meant we didn't get to go to Pompei which is a real shame.
I think because of the whether we felt a bit isolated and stranded, I thought it would have been nearer Massa but we did use the local buses and had an afternoon in Sorrento and the following day we were down to Marina del Cantone which was lovely. One evening I sat on the balcony until about 2am just watching the most fantastic electrical storm I've ever seen, there must have been about six seperate storms happening out at sea it was magnificent, I saw all different kinds of lightening some orange some purple, it really was a treat! I left the Relais with heavy heart as it really was lovely
If I had anything negative to say about it would be the restaurant it was prohibitively expensive, I would have liked to have eaten there one night but it was crazy prices which is a real shame, I think they should have had a cheaper bar menu as well because sometimes you're just happy to have a bowl of pasta especially if you've been out for lunch. Other than that it was bliss!
Then on to Positano, what can I say about this place, even though the room was the most basic out of all the hotels we just didn't really care, the hotel was just so nice, the staff were really friendly and always asked how we were and suggested things for us to see and do. We took the boat to Amalfi and then took the bus up to Ravello which was beautiful and then on another day we went to One Fire Beach which was really good fun. On our last night there was a Fish Festival on the beach which was great fun really good to see the locals out enjoying themselves and seeing the children perform. It was all so perfect and a perfect way to spend the end of the honeymoon, it's not often that I would return somewhere but I would be very tempted to return to Positano and stay at here again as it was just so much fun.
As for the dinner that was included for our stay that was just the best meal ever and with such spectacular views something we will always cherish.
So overall Rosa I think you did an outstanding job, you knew exactly what it was that I was after and we couldn't have organised it so well ourselves, thank you for your patience and for helping us have just the best honeymoon we could have hoped for.
Many thanks
Karen

Dear Rosa
Sorry it has taken so long to give you some feed-back on our Italian holiday, but we have had visitors ever since and have finally got our house back for one week! We absolutely loved Umbria and especially Bevagna and the whole surrounding region.
The Residence you suggested was great and Michele was such a helpful host and a true gentleman. He drove us into Foligno to pick up our car hire and more. The position of the Residence is just right if you are not staying in Bevagna itself and the fact that it has a garden and you can sit out in the late afternoon and look out on the surrounding hills, is a treat. The breakfast "delivered to your room" is a just two warm croissants, but this is Italy and that's what they do. You could also self-cater if you had the energy. We really enjoyed the two bottles of wine from the local area, thank you for those.
The train travel was fine, but as luck would have it the very tight change at Firenze for Pisa was made even tighter by the fact that the Foligno train was five minutes late. We have decided that we are too old to run with luggage. but we did catch the train! Apart from that the trains were fine and the intructions for validating the tickets was very useful. The hotel in Genoa was just right for us as we were meeting up with old friends and just wanted somewhere comfortable for two nights.
So once again thanks for arranging the trip at very short notice, we would recommend Bevagna to anyone, but you certainly need a little car to see the surrounding area. If we go to Italy again we will certainly contact you and recommend your services to friends.
Regards,Chris Higgins

Here’s the feedback I promised, sorry it was a bit late. The holiday was fantastic and all of the accommodation was excellent. Here’s some feedback on some good restaurants that we tried:
Florence – place called Golden View on the southern side of the Pontevecchio overlooking the river. Large menu and wine list and great views of the bridge – food and service was very good.
Greve in Chianti: Both recommended by the guys at the B&B you sent us to….Ristoro Di Lamone. Fantastic location up in the hills (bit of a drive), very good food and excellent homemade limoncello. Mangiando Mangiando – in the main square in Greve – we had lunch there and the pasta with wild boar sauce was excellent.
Orbetello: Both recommended by the people at the B&B. La Taverna – in Orbetello – good food and wine list, best to book ahead on the weekend. Il Pescatore Di Ansedonia – in Ansedonia. Excellent fish and seafood and pretty reasonable prices – again best to book on the weekend. For excellent gelato (best on the trip) – La Glacia in Orbetello (56 Via Dante). Skip desert at your restaurant and head here instead.
Rome: Both restaurants are at the higher budget end, but both great. They were both on the email list you sent: Ad Hoc – have a great option for starter and pasta that allows you to sample a few of their options in one dish and a huge wine list. Le Jardin de Russie – excellent service and a great location – definitely one for special occasions (unless you are used to dining at top restaurants), food and wine was great. At the top end of the price range, but worth it.
The accommodation in Rome was good, but the breakfast left a little to be desired. Perhaps it was the location or type of place but fresh croissants would be a good start and a bit more choice.
Hope that all helps, thanks again for organising it – it was a great trip. We’ll certainly recommend you to anyone thinking of going to Italy.
Regards,
Andy

Hi Rosa, I was in the process of typing an email (when yours arrived).....I have the wedding thank yous on my list, but first wanted to thank you again! It is difficult to put into words our feelings, we were (& are) just so happy with everything. The wedding day, the honeymoon, everyone at the Villa, all the other suppliers.......how it all went......faultless. Everyone loved the location & our families are still talking about it!
In particular the Villa & the food.....as an example, well we gave them a list of the aperitifs we wanted after tasting, but need not have bothered, as all they all were available! The Italian laid back way is just soooooo much better than. I know for a fact in the UK, if we weren't sitting down at the designated time we would be asked to.......but at the Villa there was no pressure or anything......what more can we say?????
In Ravello we were seeing 1-2 weddings a day......tourists taking photos........it just made us realise the Villa was the perfect choice.
Please thank everyone on our behalf.
Re the honeymoon, the hotels were great, always very accommodating, nothing too much trouble, etc. We don't normally stay in such expensive places, certainly for such a period i.e. 3 weeks......but given it was our honeymoon we're glad we did. We are converts, we now have to work & save for the next time!
Indeed, everyone was great even the Naples transfer
Unfortunately we are now back to reality! Given I'm contracting; I'm a kept man currently, although Barbs has me busy with a long list of chores; as I said above the thank you's starts here! We are hoping the pictures will be arriving imminently, as we aim to produce a book & take to show everyone. We would also like to send a copy to the Villa, if Elena would like, as she had examples of weddings, & they would help her? If a copy would help you for future 'clients' then we can also send you a copy........maybe the photographers send you the disc directly, so you could take a copy yourself?
Anyway, everything was great - we would recommend you, the Villa, etc to anyone.......so if you ever need an endorsement, we are more than happy to help
Thanks again for everything.....absolutely memorable

Hi there. So sorry for the delay but we've been busy getting the kids back to school.
First, the service from Italian Connection. As I have said before, I found the service to be extremely helpful, with prompt and detailed responses to all my queries. I would rate it as excellent. Turning to the property, we had two problems. First, we spent two days without hot water as the boiler had broken. This was not the fault of the owner and it was dealt with as quickly as possible. The second problem was that the oven did not work. We were told that the owner had said that the door needed to be left open for it to work (!) but even when we tried that somewhat unusual method we could not get it to work and decided to live with it. The local concierge, Michela was as helpful as she could possibly be (and her communication skills were very good) but we did not see much of the gardner/pool cleaner whom we were told would be there every day. We were also somewhat shocked by the amount we were charged by the owner for electricity (not the rate but the amount of electricity used according to the meter which seemed to far outweigh what we had actually used - especially since we were unable to turn one of the outside lights off which cannot have helped). Other than that the property was pretty much as expected.
We liked the local village, Lugnano, and found the supermarket well stocked. There was supposed to be a pizza restaurant very close by but as far as we could tell it was closed as was one other restaurant in the village that had been recommended by a guide book. It was a small village and consequently did not have much else in the way of cafes or restaurants but that did not trouble us unduly.
I hope this has helped your appraisal system,
Kind regards, Esther Frost

Dear Rosa
I am sorry not to have replied earlier - we came back on the Sunday and straight to work on the Monday - we hardly drew breath! Good reports on all three properties. We had a great holiday although we had terrible problems with our car (automatic gearbox went 20 miles off the Motorail....).
Lovely hotel in Monterosso, very convenient for the restaurants and shops, in the nicest part of the town, but very quiet. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff (particularly in relation to dealing with the local Renault garage!). Good buffet breakfast in a nice room.
We thought the location of the Venice apartment was marvelous. Very large living space and very nice roof terrace with fantastic skyline view. It was nice to be in an old Venetian house on a canal (although we did have a few Venetian power problems!).
The apartment at Garda was excellent - great view, lovely building and well-appointed flat and grounds. The swimming pool was in a wonderful position - you could swim and look at the mountains at the same time. Very nice managers (children of the elderly owners) who were helpful with the car - the son worked at the local tourist office.
Thank you very much for arranging it.
Regards, Kim

Hi Rosa!
We had a wonderful trip!! The hotel you recommended was in a fantastic location and very convenient for getting the ferries. All the hotel staff were lovely and very helpful, the bedrooms were clean and comfortable and of course the view of the lake was amazing! We only had dinner in the hotel on the night we arrived and it was very good but a bit "hotel-ly" for us. Breakfast was excellent and, apart from the last morning, we had a table outside and were able to enjoy the sunshine and the view! Our only criticism of the hotel was that certain areas looked a bit "tired".
We went to Isola del Garda, Il Vittoriale, the Botanical Gardens, and Malcesine and Monte Baldo. All were very enjoyable and there wasn't anything that we wished we hadn't bothered with. Obviously there are loads of places we just didn't have time to go to - and will definitely be on the list for next time!! We only had a very brief look at Salo when we were going to the restaurant but it looked a nice place to explore in the future.
Regarding restaurants - we went into Villa Fiordaliso and although it looked very nice, it was very expensive and we reckoned the cost would have been a minimum of £75 per head, which was far more than we wanted to pay! La Campagnola in Salo was lovely! Excellent food at very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Getting in and out of their car park was a nightmare, and we would recommend trying to find somewhere on the road to park instead! Locanda agli Angeli was fantastic! Definitely my favourite! Lovely staff and excellent food and wine. We sat outside in the tiny cobbled piazza and the whole ambience was just amazing!! One point worth mentioning is that they don't take credit cards, which we didn't realise until we were sitting down but fortunately we had enough cash with us! Belvedere da Marietta was a disappointment. Fantastic views but the menu seemed incredibly complicated (I have a very basic knowledge of Italian and couldn't understand any of it!!), and although they did explain some things to us, we didn't feel particularly welcome. (They did have a German version of the menu, but not an English one.) The food was ok but nothing special.
We had no problem with the car hire apart from having to pay a penalty for not filling it up, but that was our fault for missing all the petrol stations on the way to the airport!
We thought Gardone was an ideal base - for relaxation, good facilities and well placed for the boats The weather was absolutely glorious for the whole of our trip and we all had a brilliant time!
I hope the above comments will be useful, and if you have any queries please get in touch. Thank you so much for all your help and advice - it was all very much appreciated and I can't wait to get you working on our next Italian trip!!! I will certainly not hesitate to recommend you and your company!
Many thanks. Kind regards, Laila

The hotel was perfect, meeting our hopes completely. In particular the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, all with a sense of humour and charm. Positano was a bit noisier than we'd expected, so we actually downgraded our rooms to be further from the road. The weather was very disappointing, but not your responsibility. However it did mean we cancelled boating which had been an aim. Your service throughout was superb, thank you. Couldn't ask for more. We all concluded we were very glad to have visited the Amalfi coast but wouldn't want to go again! Going anywhere by road was not much fun and by sea (that week) too rough; and there is only so long you can spend in Positano without feeling the urge to get out and about. Hope these reactions help. We next look forward to visiting Tuscany sometime. Thank you for all your help and assistance.

Hello Rosa - just wanted to let you know that we had a lovely few days at the Masseria Marzalossa. What a wonderful and relaxing place.
All the travel arrangements went well and we had a very comfortable and large hire car for the pleasant drive from Naples to Fasano - a very good suggestion on your part. Thank you very much for all your help in making the arrangements. We shall certainly use The Italian Connection again. Regards, Jill Ricketts.

Dear Rosa, Here is the answer to your questionnaire as promised. I will answer each question in turn numbering them in the order I received them.
1 The driver was waiting with my name on him inside the airport.doorway.
2 He was very courteous and very well dressed and attempted to show us the sights in his limited English. We were very pleased with him.
3 We took about 40 minutes to get to the apartment doors.
4 We called Emanuela outside the airport.
5 Communication with her was good.
6 She did show us around and explain everything.
7 The apartment was above a restaurant as you advised (which we found an advantage) but this meant there would be some noise from the patrons until about 10 pm occasionally a little later. There was also noise from street cleaning? during the night. This did not disturb us unduly as we got used to it.
8 The apartment did not overlook any scenery. At the bedroom windows you could look out to the street below. The lounge being central had no view and the kitchen window faced walls (very close) and large pipes.
9 Appliances were O.K.
10 Apartment well located for Vatican and we walked everywhere else except catacombs. We enjoyed this but some might have found some sites a little far eg collisseum but no apartment can be near everywhere. In our
opinion it was well located for us.
11 The internal description of the apartment was good. The photos did it justice.
12 The beds were OK.
13 Yes we would return to the aparment. We liked it very much as it was roomy and cool, very welcoming after the heat outside.
14 I think I have covered everything. You asked me to be frank so I mentioned the minor negative points but otherwise I would not have mentioned them as we were very happy overall. We were pleased to be above a restaurant as we found them very helpful to us re. info and
little favours like the willingness to look after our luggage(at our own risk of course) We did not need to take them up on this offer.
15 We flew with Easyjet and the flight was excellent.
16 We arrived on time.
17 The staff were good.
18 The airport in Rome was fine.
19 A fascinating city, historically interesting, steeped in culture, wonderful churches.

Rosa, It was excellent and lived up to expectations. Weather was warm and a mixture of cloud/sun though we had a violent electric storm on Saturday and the hotel lights went out etc which meant we had to stay in. The hotel was very good, people friendly and the room excellent.
Positano is very nice restaurants differing for mood and occasion. Even dragged kicking and screaming to the local boite de nuit!. We hired a scooter, don’t laugh, and visited Amalfi and Ravello which were very nice. Also managed to get to Capri despite the sea swell. Very nice but too many shops.
All in all a very good trip and thanks for your help. I have passed your name to yet more of my colleagues/friends so you may be hearing further.
All the best

Rosa, I thought I’d provide you with some feedback on our recent jaunt! First, thanks for organising it. It’s a shame you couldn’t organise the weather as well! The Apartment. Very well situated (less than 10 mins from San Marco). Although not impressively equipped (eg. only one rather hard sofa to sit on) it worked well and was definitely more relaxing than a hotel. The main complaint from us was the lack of truly hot water (the heater knob had broken). The owners did attempt to fix it, but failed. This was made worse by the fact that there was only a shower and it was rather weak. If there’s one thing worse than a weak shower, it’s a cool weak shower!
The Boat Trip OK, you couldn’t control the weather! It was rather cold and too windy to sail, so we motored about the lagoon. It was quite an experience and I’m sure, if the weather had been better, it would have been fabulous. The bubbly went down very well. The snacks weren’t exactly haute cuisine, but were a nice touch. Tomasso, was a very pleasant chap and provided information when we asked. It might have been better if he’d been a bit more of a guide, though. I would recommend it, but perhaps later on in the season.
The Restaurant. We couldn’t get in to the Met, although it looked fabulous. In the end, we got a little lost and tried out the Grand Canal Restaurant at the Monaco and Grand Canal Hotel (it was right opposite Harry’s Bar, so we didn’t have far to stagger!). Food was really good and service excellent. I’d definitely recommend it, although it’s fairly expensive (70+Euros/pp).
All in all, we had a great time, so thanks again. I look forward to the next time, but in the meantime I continue to hand out your contact details so hopefully business will continue to boom.

Dear Rosa, whilst we had a really good time and you did a great job for us, there is indeed some feedback we can give you. The residence in Florence was just right. It was well decorated, well equipped and perfectly central. Storage space for clothing was very cramped but something we could live with for just 3 nights. Overall, we would recommend it. We did not however, enjoy the coffee shop next door. The atmosphere was dull, the staff unfriendly and the croissants were certainly not the best in Florence. Having said that there was another coffee shop 50 meters away (turn left out of the residence, go to the crossroads and it's on the diagonally opposite corner.) Everything there was just fine and the croissants far far better. The restaurant you booked for us was very nice indeed and we went back there for our second evening. I had the biggest 'fungi porcini alla griglia', I've ever seen!! Picking up the car was a bit stressful but it went OK. We had trouble with your directions to the next hotel and ended up on the wrong road out of Torrito di Siena. The hotel was a lovely location with beautiful views and good facilities. Our room was really nice but a bit dark. A few stronger light bulbs would have helped. Breakfasts was very nice and the croissants excellent! Lunches in the hotel were a mix of Italian antipasta which was really good but far too much in quantity. The restaurant in Montefollonico was excellent and we went back a second time.
We had a most enjoyable holiday and only want to make it even better for those who follow us.
Many thanks for all your efforts.
Best regards
Sandy

Hi Rosa, we had a great time overall. The hotel was lovely and the staff and service fautless. The room was lovely (In the old dairy). The food in the hotel restaurant was fantastic. We never got to see the olive oil bit as we thought 50 euros each for the pleasure was a little steep! The area of the Mugello was beautiful with many hill towns, and interesting places. We went to a festival at Scaperia...........terrific. In summary, lovely place, lovely hotel, service at the hotel fautless, beautiful building, geat room, very clean, great places to eat in the hotel and in the local towns. Thanks for organizing it. Any places in the far south?

Rosa Feedback from the Higginson clan having just about recovered from yesterdays return journey.
Overall we loved the holiday. I had forgotten though that Italian drivers have lead in the sole of their right shoes (either that or I am getting very old and staid) and I hadn't realised that it rained that much in Italy- we managed a couple of days without rain!!!
More specific feedback:
The hotel in Florence you selected is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in and I am a regular at some of the worlds best hotels (Ritz, Savoy, Shangri La in Hong Kong etc). The attention to detail and the service were simply quite superb. From the moment you arrive to the moment that you leave it is a study in excellence. The rooms, public and bedrooms were chic and comfortable, the service was friendly, effecient and prompt- without ever being intrusive or fussy. A really hard thing to achieve but done superbly well. The dinner recommendations were also excellent. The whole place had the feeling of being a real home from home- just what you want after a hard days sightseeing.
The hotel in Torrita was not as difficult to find as I had anticipated although finding it in the dark would have been an almost impossible challenge. The views of Montepulciano are spectacular and Matteo and the staff helpful and friendly. There was a meal offered on the Staurday night which was as good as anything that we ate all holiday (cooked by his mother). The rooms were well appointed, romantic and very practical-superb shower. We cannot comment on the pool as we did not have the weather but it looked great. Overall it was a really relaxing place to stay and a great end to the holiday.
The car hire was unventful- always the best way I have found. If you want any more feedback on anything in particular please let me know. Kind regards
Kevin
PS
Rosa Sorry I should have mentioned the tickets etc
We had absolutely no problems with the Uffizi tickets- delivered the day before in plenty of time. Finding the entrances etc was very easy and we had a great 3 or 4 hours wandering around. You do need to buy a good guide book to get the most out of the visit but there are plenty on sale inside. One word of warnig to other people - if you want one of the audio guides which are easily available and reasonably priced - you need either your driving licence or passport as a deposit. We had neither!! I spent a week in Hastings last year at the Golf School - my golf didn't improve much but I got pretty wet there too!! Must be me.
Thanks for all your help in setting things up - I forgot to say what a great and easy service it was to use. You have been a pleasure to deal with.
Many thanks again
Kevin

I'm sure it is not usual to write to your travel agent on your honeymoon but I really wanted to say thank you so much for all your help in getting things arranged. It's all been pretty near perfect - The villa Rosa was superb and Torre Trasita is stunning - it's the round one on the picture. We're having as fabulous a honeymoon as could be imagined, and that is due in large part to your efforts and your care in helping me find the right things and places and arranging all the tedious detailed stuff for me and taking away all the anxiety - you've been brilliant, thank you so much. You really ought to visit Italy some time - it's really very nice.... OK joke !! Speak to your soon. Alaister & Jo.

Hi Rosa
Yes it was great, Perugia is so beautiful, house was great but three weeks in one place perhaps a little too long. Favorite town was Todi – would like to spend a few days here with just Angie and myself. I will forward a couple of photos when I get round to downloading them but in the mean time thanks for all your help.

We had a lovely holiday. The estate is very pretty and well maintained and the owner very helpful.
The accommodation was good although I wouldn't recommend it for a family with young children
because of the separateness of the entrances to the bedrooms.
Todi was the nicest close town for wandering and eating, but we did our supermarket shopping in Ponterio, about
3 kms away and there was a small shop in Duesante which was within cycling distance (about 2 kms).
We did not eat out very often as we self-catered but we did eat twice at the restaurant on the estate and we had 2 lovely meals. It is not a "pizza" type restaurant but produces typical food of the region.
The estate is located within easy driving distance of the main towns of the region and we visited Perugia, Assissi, Spoleto and Orvieto as well as just driving around in the area visiting many of the hilltop towns.
The only thing I would say is that the directions to the property were not entirely clear in the last stages. We drove up and down the hill several times as we were not even sure which side of the road we were supposed to be looking for the entrance.
We had what was called the "taster menu" at the restaurant, a selection from each course chosen by the restaurant,
and paid 35euros each. This included 2 bottles of wine between us. It would probably have been a bit more expensive to have chosen a la carte.
By the way, we did think it could maybe have benefited from one or two more parasoles around the pool to cater for the different groups and also the following is a very english comment - there was no kettle in the kitchen!
Still a very good holiday!
Regards, Lyn

We have just returned from Italy and had a really wonderful holiday. The accommodation in Bologna was particularly good - brilliant central position and very spacious and comfortable apartment (but 62 steps up - fine for us but don't recommend to older people!). Ernesto was very helpful and always available on the phone with queries regarding the keys, not being able to get the oven to work etc..! We found it easy to use the buses and trains and all the travel arrangements worked out well.
You may wish to know that the Altomare Residence in Riccione is available to families and singles groups and that the walls are very thin. Although the actual apartment was comfortable and the location good, we did have an issue about noise which we were forced to take up with the management there. Thanks Rosa. We'll recommend you if any of our friends or family want to go to Italy.
Best wishes

Overall it was great thanks and I could not have arranged it without you to go sooo smoothly.
Lovely Hotels, but obviously a little beyond our Day to day budgets! Which is a shame as the rooms at both (that we could obviously only afford) were a little ‘normal/small’ compared to the rest of the stay at each. The Caterina were just lovely people – could not do enough to help you.
The Quissana slightly more ‘distant’ – frightening to think how some people can spend soo much so easily ! (Bottles of Krug at the side of the pool at €400 a bottle!). Add to your list of Food recommendations for Capri: http://www.geraniocapri.com/en/posizione
It was recommended to me and did not disappoint!
Thanks again- and sorry for the brief email (lots of catching up to do here at work – you know how it gets after a hols !).
Best regards

Dear Rosa,
My friend and I were delighted with the the hotel in Venice you selected for our stay in Venice. It was in an excellent situation. convenient for so much, quiet, very clean and comfortable. The rooms, although small, were well furnished with all that was needed, including good lighting and mirrors. The breakfasts were excellent, and the staff friendly and welcoming. I cannot emphasise too much how comfortable we were. Arriving late and tired (excellent directions) we were uplifted to see a delightful, well lit entrance and two smiling faces. Thank you for suggesting this hotel and for all the service you have provided.
Many thanks

Cool. Well here's our thoughts
Hotel 1 - The Duomo, Florence: This is an amazingly well located hotel - perfect for exploring Florence. The staff were friendly and quite helpful. It was good to have an area available all day to grab an espresso at no charge. The room was very basic, very plain, but very clean. It would be recommended for a one/two night stay but not perfect to start a honeymoon if you're looking for something above basic standard.
Hotel 2 - The hotel in Chianti: This hotel was brilliant - the highlight of the honeymoon. The owner, Giampaolo, is a great guy and extremely friendly. The hotel is a work of art, with excellent rooms, really nice architectural tocuhes, and heaps of character. We bought food and ate in the grounds on two nights - as the views were excellent and the gardens are a delight. I cannot recommend it enough. The rooms might be a bit hot when it's scorching outside though!
Hotel 3: Lorenzo, Malcesine, Lake Garda: The staff were again friendly. We stayed in the new block, which was very nice, modern, simple, spacious, and very comfortable. It had good airconditioning so was perhaps the most comfortable room we stayed in. It had a great view of the lake too. I got the impression that the new rooms, like ours, were definitely the preferred option! The rate was half board and we found the food to be plentiful but not great. We did not eat in the hotel after the first night. The breakfast was good.
We found the lakes very touristy. Malcesine was one of the better towns on the lakes - the highlight of which was the Baldo cable car. A good half day could be spent there. Allow time to get down as we queued for 40 mins.
The towns are pretty much the same: touristy shops, lots of middle aged tourists, and lots of pizza joints. We found it difficult to get great food in Malcesine, unlike Chianti and Florence.
Hotel 4: Victoria hotel, Pisa: Good location and great staff. The hotel is like a museum, and is preserved extremely well. The hotel is worth a visit even if you're not staying there! It is very atmospheric. The furniture and art and posters etc on the walls were brilliant. The breakfast was great. The only slight disappointment was the room. The room was very plain, very drab. It was just about comfortable enough - and was clean.
Hope some of that is useful!
Cheers
Ed

I did send you a brief e-mail last week (21st), here it is again - "Quick e-mail to say we had a great trip, all too short...but that's life. All hotels good, but the best was Bevagna (so it should have been for the price!!), not least because we got a free upgrade to a suite in the medieval part of the building and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We got a great welcome. Second was the ex-convent in the Valnerina for atmosphere and helpful staff. Also, the meals we had there were great and very good value for money. We visited some interesting places, had plenty of good food and wine, and took loads of photos - some will be on their way to you when I get a minute, and I can write more about the hotels."

Dear Rosa, just a quick email to say that we had a wonderful holiday and returned safe and well. The accommodation in Venice was perfect for us, I am so glad we had the option for self catering as eating out in the city is disappointing and horribly expensive. The key holder spoke no English so we had a bit of fun trying to make ourselves understood but all part of the fun. Thanks for finding that place, it suited us to be in a quiet area and it was charming. We enjoyed Venice enormously, not just the big sights of St Marks but also the islands, the Jewish area was also very interesting and just wandering the smaller streets. We got to Malcesine ok, just one error turning off the motorway. If we had managed to get a better road map, this would have helped. Again a wonderful week, the hotel was great for us, very comfortable and relaxed. Eating out there much easier, we tried a number of your suggested restaurants and were very happy with all. Malcesine was ideal. Thank you for putting together a great holiday. We missed our connecting flight home at Paris and had to wait 5 hours, we arrived on time but the system at Paris was a shambles (huge queues and few staff)...I don't ever want to go to Paris airport ever again but you live and learn. Apart from that, all was well. I expect we will call on you to suggest a holiday in the future as we would love to see more of Italy, Regards, Caroline and John Elton

What a crazy, mad city Naples is!
I have to say we were all a bit worried on the drive to the hotel and when it pulled up in the area by the hotel I was really getting concerned. However I kept my nerve and we ventured out. They did come out and meet us as the road is too narrow for a vehicle.
Hotel location 10/10
Staff at hotel 10/10
Rooms 10/10
Thursday night buffet 10/10 (we ran out of wine but they managed to find one more bottle)
Transfer 10/10 (all on time)
Walking tour (Luisa) 10/10 - she came with us to the underground city, that was great the narrow, dark tunnels to walk in
Weather 10/10 lovely and warm not too hot
Eating out 12/10 (not one bad meal and very reasonable) Tiny black treacle like coffee with a rum ba-ba (in the photo)
12/10 Ice cream
12/10 Pizza on the go straight out of the over and folded over 12/10
I have never seen so much graffitti and rubbish - in a strange way it adds to Naples edgy feel.
You were right on all points - great trip.

Thank you for your letter asking how our honeymoon was. We had an absolutely amazing time! More than we could have ever imagined.
Ravello was just so beautiful, peaceful and picturesque - evereywhere we went was another amazing view. Although we were up the mountain it still felt that we were right on the sea - a bizzarre but lovely illusion that the scenery played on us. Breakfast at the Rufollo will never be forgotten with the scenery that was on offer.
Amalfi was more hectic in the town centre but the Santa Caterina was a peaceful and luxurious haven. Although it was top class, the staff were really friendly and helpful - made us feel very much at home. A chance to be treated like a star - fantastic!!
Positano town was full of atmosphere but extremely quaint with lots of little streets everywhere entwinning each other. Very beautiful buildings and Palazzo Murat, where we stayed was just gorgeous. Our suite (N5) was just spectacular with awesome views of the church and the sea. The restaurant was also wonderful with some really unususal taste combinations, which was fantastic. Just a pity it didn't have a pool as the beaches weren't particularly nice. Otherwise perfect!
Never had one bad meal anywhere - Italy has proven to be our favourite country we have visited around the world and can't wait to go back!
Anna - Thank you for all your help and hard work making our honeymoon so perfect and we will be sure to ring you next time we can afford to make a trip back over to Italy in the future.
Best wishes,
Nicky

Hi Rosa, Thanks soooooooooooooooooooooooo much for ALL your help. We got back last night having had a SUPERB time. We had a bit of difficulty finding the hotel but once we realised that what we would term a passage where the rubbish bins are kept, the venitians call a main road we found the main entrance (which was just a door).
The hotel was sumptuous, venetians are so friendly and although it was cold, it was dry and there were hardly any tourists. It was worth while having the transfer (although expensive) because we wouldnt have had a clue where to go when we got to venice.
Fascinating place (but then you know that). St marks was virtually empty (tell people not to miss the treasures - they are amazing) and the Pala d'Oro is stunning. we aslo rushed round the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Carità spending just 3hrs there!
We did buy a book (i know you told us not to) and found lots of places to eat in there. Didnt have a drink in St Marks square (too cold) but went to Harrys Bar instead and did loads of walking (it really is the best way to get round)
Thanks again for being so patient in arranging everything for us. I will certainly recommend you to anyone thinking of going there. We may even go back to Italy some time and will be in touch with you.
Thanks

Thanks. I'm back and everything went well. Hotel was good except there was quite a lot of noisy building work and their breakfast was ordinary. The evening meal was very good though and the room was pleasant and the staff extremely helpful. In case you did'nt know you can pre-book to go to the Uffizi and the other place with the Michelangelo, which is helpful since the queues are huge. The best place we saw was Beato Angelico's monastry which strangely has no queues and is beautiful. Liked the lady who gave us a lift.Very classy.Really liked the Italians, their cultureand food.
Don't like Ryan Air much but I suppose you get what you pay for! Anyway thanks. If I go again I'll definitely contact you, Jonathan Care

I just wanted to thank you for all your time and effort in making our short stay in Positano so wonderful!! We had a great time in Italy and were very pleased with the Best Western hotel and the driver to and from Positano. Everyone was very professional, friendly, and helpful. Most of all, Tony, he gave us two suites for the one night stay which was superb!!! When he saw that you had organised our stay he had a HUGE smile on his face and gave us the suite upgrades.
We look forward to our next holiday in Italy and we will definitely be contacting the Italian Connection to organise our stay. Also, does the Italian Connection have an emailing list for costumers to receive information about special holiday offers? If you do, I would like you to include my email address on the list.
Thank you once again,

Rosa,
I wanted to let you know we are just back from our fabulous trip to Florence. The hotel was wonderful (we couldn't have aksed for better), we were lucky enough to get an upgraded room given to us once we arrived, the taxi worked perfectly both ways., flights on time, weather wonderful, and of course, the city was beautiful. So, it was just the relaxing and romantic weekend we needed. Thank you so much for working the arrangements, and I will be sure to recommend your company to anyone else I know going to Italy.

Hi Rosa, We had a great time!
Lovely place - it's the gate houseof the 'Castello' right next to the beautiful house and grounds with a fab tree lined drive way which makes it feel very posh and special.
Lovely hosts too. Immediate area is beautiful. I believe they are going to have a pool built for next year.......
Collecting car etc all worked like clockwork. Manic at work so excuse the haste. Thanks very much for your help in organising it!

Dear Rosa
The trip was excellent thank you.
All the arrangements you made went very well including the transfers. The hotel was good, all the facilities were fine and the view from the room was as described. We were on the first floor and I would have preferred to have been on the second or third for a slightly better vista but I suspect that those rooms might have been more expensive.
We were lucky with three very sunny days and managed to find good restaurants on the whole - although I can't remember names or locations to give you any recommendations.
Thanks for all your help
Kind regards

Many thanks for organising a great honeymoon. Both accommodations lovely with fantastic views. Everything went to plan, so thanks for doing a great job - pity you couldn't have had some control over the weather - it rained the whole week in Tuscany. We still went out tho, just bought an umbrella!!! There really are some beautiful places to see in that area. Unfortunately we missed seeing florence as i had a stomach bug so I may well be in contact again to arrange a long weekend in the near future!
Many thanks again. I will certainly recommend you to anyone travelling to Italy.

Hi Rosa, What can I say??? It was amazing! The weather was stunning and so were the views!! Villa Lara was a wonderful little hotel very central and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The only downside was the driving....we almost got lost from the airport to the hotel (I got a bit confused with the directions) and when we saw how tiny and restrictive the road up to the hotel was we parked the car in the villa garage and didn't use it again till we went back to the airport! All in all it was a excellent honeymoon and I thoroughly recommend it as a destination. Thanks very much for all the help and advice.
We are already planning the next trip to italy....and we will be in contact soon!!!
Kind regards

Rosa - It was FANTASTIC!!! We threw money in the trevi fountain so hopefully we'll return sometime!Jane did not find out where we were going until the check in queue. The hotel was great - perfect. Everyone was friendly from the chambermaid to the front desk. The rooftop bar was a pleasant way to recover from a day's hectic activity whilst considering where to eat. Everything was right on our doorstep but I did get caught out at the Vatican as I was wearing shorts and had to buy some very stylish paper trousers from a souvenir shop! Many many thanks for arranging (and persuading me!).
I was hoping to get down to Hastings this weekend and was going to call in but I ended up at the top of a neighbours apple tree with a chain saw instead - long story!
I'll be in touch about skiing soon

Both Claudia and her husband were absolutely delightful and so kind. They gave me loads of advice on where to go and more importantly where to park when I got there. They also gave me restaurant recommendations and rustled up train times for Genoa.
The house is absolutely lovely although there was very little to do in the village. It would have been nice to have been able to have a drink when I got back at the end of the day. Mind you, it was very late in the year and I was on my own.
All in all I had a lovely time

Dear Rosa, I enjoyed the holiday a lot, especially Venice.
The apartment in Rome was in a good place and the rooms themselves were ok, but not really big enough for 4, but the equipment inside was very poor. They could have made it nice without spending much. For example there is no kettle & no teapot. My son went to draw the curtains and the rail fell on him causing a nasty injury to his toe.The apartment is next to a night club so sleep is tricky!
The flat in Venice was superb though & I would love to go there again.Nearly everything worked and it was good quality whereas the other place seemed to be the cheapest they could get away with.
Only hiccup was on the final day the letter said to meet the taxi driver at the station. We went to the train station but should have gone to the bus station(we didn't even know there was one!).It got sorted by phone but we were 30mins late for the taxi. The driver waited and was very kind.
Please don't think that I didn't enjoy myself though since we all had a lovely time and want to visit Venice again as soon as we have the money.I think we spent £200 to £300 a day on food, but our kids are pigs!

Eveything went fine. The transfers were particularly impressive, particularly the guy waiting on the platform for us at Naples. Hope to make use of your company another time. Best wishes George Oswald

Rosa, We had a wonderful trip – Truthfully – amazing
Many thanks for all your hard work!!
The only thing was the driver from Naples to Positano was horrible. He drove so fast left us at the top of the hill in Positano, did not get us a Porter or explain where the heck we were. Everything else was perfect- thank you
If you could do one thing for me-I was trying to order 2 5 liter cans of olive oil from the Loggia to have shipped home. The woman (not Ivana) I had been talking with about it was sweet, but did not get back to me via email with shipping costs etc. Could you call and ask them if they could send me an email with these details? So I could give them a credit card and have them ship IF it is a reasonable price. Again, I am happy to be a reference for you anything.
Happy Summer

Hi Rosa, I meant to email you when I got back actually, but got sidetracked by a very busy week at work. The hotel was wonderful, really beautiful rooms, lovely setting, and even an elevator down to the private beach. The only thing I would say is that they need to have a more substantial lunch menu, especially as most guests don't really go anywhere as the point is relaxation and Arbatax is very very small and quiet. The food in the evenings though was sublime. We even got our convertible!
All told, once again, a job well done, Rosa, and no doubt I will be in touch again in the not-too-distant future to get you beavering away for us on something else (possible Sicily). Hope all is well with you! See you soon!

Afternoon Rosa, Valeria, I know its been a little while now since Lorna and Arran's wedding, which took place in Positano on 1st September, but I just wanted to write and convey my thanks to you for your help in organising our travel and accommodation in Naples for the one night and Positano for 5 nights. Your help with the Naples booking was invaluable, as although I thought a wonderful city and one I'd like to revisit at some stage, could be, as you say, certain places could be a little "scary" to be in at times. Positano was beautiful, scenery and weather wonderful, all made better by attending a lovely wedding. We had a lovely time and we were so pleased and honoured to have been included in Lorna and Arran's special day.
Again many thanks and hopefully, one day in the future, speak with you again.

Dear Rosa, I just wanted to write and say a huge thank you to you as we had a truly fantastic break in Venice and Verona last week. Thank you so much with all your help with organising it all. Both the hotels were fantastic. The Europa and Regina hasn't changed in 10 years at all and it wonderful to go back again and the hotel in Verona by Juliets Balcony was really special. The conciege there was a wonderful man and the setting was magical. The restaurant in Verona was outstanding, amazing atmosphere and delicious food. The restaurant at the Hotel Metropole in Venice also served amazing food, we had their 10 course surprise menu and thought we might burst at the end! Our only critism there was that the restaurant lacked any atmosphere and had no view or even any windows which is a real shame in Venice.
Arriving by water taxi was a real highlight and the Opera was an unforgettable experience it was truly amazing.
So thank you for all your help, you made the whole trip very easy. I have recommended you to some friends of ours who are also planning their 10 year anniversary and I will be back in contact when we are planning our next trip to Italy, hopefully soon! Best Wishes, Rachel McMeeking
